Meet Dr. Spencer Richlin

Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist: Infertility Specialist – Connecticut & New York

"Invitro Fertilization (IVF) has become the ultimate reproductive tool, and an incredibly powerful one that allows us to achieve such phenomenal pregnancy rates...especially here at RMA of CT. Combined with genetic testing, it lets us not only provide truly personalized care, we see a dramatic increase of success for those patients that combine the two."

Spencer S. Richlin, MD, is a board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist with extensive reproductive surgical experience. He has been practicing at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) since 2004, where he is a partner and Surgical Director.

Fertility preservation and helping women make informed decisions about their reproductive timeline is an area of passion for Dr. Richlin. "Many women are not ready for family building at this stage in their life, but that doesn't mean they can't act right now," he explains. "Their eggs will never be better than they are today – and that's why we encourage freezing so there are options when they need them." He also encourages discussions of fertility preservation with those that have received a cancer diagnosis. "With cancer, it is an entirely different motivation. We can provide an opportunity to a patient undergoing chemotherapy to retrieve eggs and create embryos or freeze their eggs," he says. "As they heal, they know those eggs and embryos are there for them when they're ready – giving them hope, energy and purpose for the future".

Dr. Richlin is known for his enthusiastic and deeply compassionate demeanor. He learned early on in his career that being an excellent doctor and surgeon did not mean giving up empathy and kindness – a belief that is apparent in all his patient interactions. He feels strongly about passing this learning on to the next generation of medical providers and continues his legacy of compassion by training the OB/GYN residents from Stamford Hospital and providing mentored clinical experience to students at Quinnipiac University Medical School.

Furthering his mission of giving back to the community, Dr. Richlin also focuses on advocacy in the field of fertility. He has been a regular attendee of Resolve’s National Advocacy Day where he speaks to state representatives, sharing his experience with and conviction for Connecticut's state mandate and insurance coverage for fertility treatment.

Dr. Richlin is an invited writing member for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology PROLOG Seventh Edition for Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. This program is a well-respected study tool for residents as well as a reference for those currently in practice and interested in staying informed of clinical data and information relevant to the obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive endocrinology fields. He will again be a contributor to the upcoming Eighth Edition which will be published in 2019.
